Taylor Spears is the 25- year- old daughter of Terry and Shirley Spears from Cleveland, Ok. Taylor grew up on her family’s cattle ranch where, at the age of 3, Taylor began her love for the Western way of life. In her lifetime, Taylor has shown pigs, goats, cattle, and AQHA horses. She and her family also produce their own wheat hay. From rodeo queen titles at the local and national level and everything in between, to public speaking, Taylor is a well-rounded and well-versed individual. Her highlights include serving as the 2014/2015 National High School Rodeo Queen and earning 1st-Runner -Up at the 2019 Miss Rodeo America Pageant. Currently, Taylor hosts a TV show on RFD-TV called National Little Britches Rodeo, where she gives the future of rodeo a chance to shine through by telling their stories. Taylor is the Marketing Coordinator and Rodeo Relations Liaison for The Cowboy Channel, where she gets to serve as the voice of The Cowboy Channel amongst respective rodeo committees.

Vision for the future of women in the Western industry: “My vision for the future of women in the industry is extremely hopeful. I envision the women in the industry to demand respect not ask for it. To seek new challenges and opportunities- not wait for them. To join as a sisterhood and lift others up, not tear them down. To normalize emotions/ feelings and being successful at the same time. To produce and work events far bigger than themselves. Hannah Miller was raised on a 340-acre ranch in Franktown, CO, and was passionate about animals and the western lifestyle from the get-go. She grew up barrel racing and showing rabbits, pigs, cattle, and throughout high school she was part of the Douglas County FFA Chapter where she competed in horse judging and farm and agribusiness management.

Hannah attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO to further her education in the equine industry. While attending CSU she competed in horse judging, was part of the equine science sales class, and was an intern at Royal Vista Colorado Equine Breeding Facility.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Equine Science and minor in Business Administration she moved back home and began working for the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association (WPRA) in Colorado Springs, CO in September of 2014.

In the last 7 years, Hannah has blossomed into her career in the rodeo industry as the Special Events & Sponsorship Manager for the WPRA. She oversees the production of the WPRA World Finals Rodeo, WPRA Star Celebration as well as other WPRA events taking place during the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. During this time she has also been able to build and manage lasting relationships with key partners within the western industry.

Hannah is married to Daniel Miller and together they train barrel racing and reining horses at Miller Family Performance Horses. Hannah competes in WPRA Professional rodeos and is a WPRA card holder.

Vision for the future of women in the Western industry: “If there was ever a time to be a woman in the western industry, it’s now! I am so blessed to have the opportunity to work with strong women every day all the way from WPRA Directors to the office staff that keeps everything in motion to the pro rodeo athletes going down the road. Angela Scott grew up in a small town in the mountains of Northeastern California where pride in rural living runs deep. Her love for the Western way of life was forged in branding fires at a young age where she learned that, someday, she wanted to be a cowgirl. Fast-forward a decade and Angela was off to college at California State University, Chico to start pre-vet courses.

However, God had other plans. She learned to be flexible, roll with the punches, and trust in God’s timing which all eventually led her to managing the university’s organic dairy and, after graduation, landing a job with Zoetis Animal Health as the Beef Cattle Territory Manager for Oregon. Through her career with Zoetis, Angela met her cattle industry mentors and began backgrounding sale barn cattle.

In 2018, as a first-generation rancher, she bought her first truckload of calves. Shortly thereafter, Angela met her now husband, Bo, who was living in East Texas. After much deliberation and prayer, they chose to continue their life together in Texas. She bravely uprooted and made the move cross-country in 2020. Together, she and Bo have diversified their business to include cow-calf, backgrounding feeders, finishing cattle, and direct-to-consumer beef. Also in 2020, Angela started a booming wedding planning business serving Dallas-Fort Worth and beyond. Her passion project is The Rural Housewives, a web-based community and podcast for rural women meant to encourage every woman to pursue her life’s purpose.

Vision for the future of women in the Western industry: “It is absolutely imperative that each and every woman pursue the desires on her heart. Each woman is given unique talents and abilities and, when she uses them, the world is made better. Each woman is irreplaceable. If she is not using her rare set of skills, the world misses out on the beautiful piece of the patchwork that is uniquely hers. I want every woman to understand this so deeply that she cannot help but to act on it. I want every woman to spring up out of bed in the morning excited about the way that she is leaving her own legacy. I want every woman to know in her bones that she is necessary. This is what I strive to communicate to the wonderful women I get to interact with and what I hope to see for the future of the Western industry’s women – and the women of the world.”

Growing up in a third-generation cattle ranching and rodeo family, a deep appreciation for the industry was cultivated within Katie Whitney at a very young age.

Katie competed in Jr. High and High School Rodeos in California qualifying for nationals. Many weekends were spent shipping cattle and at family branding.

At fifteen, Katie’s mother was diagnosed with brain cancer and she passed away when Katie was twenty years old. Her family and she persevered and she used the heartbreak to help her chase my dreams.

After being accepted into her dream college, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Katie obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Communication while competing on the rodeo team and being the women’s team captain. She qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo four times then went on to be the assistant coach for one year while obtaining her Master’s Degree in Agricultural Education.

While attending Cal Poly, Katie was on the Dean’s List and involved in a few clubs on campus. In December of 2018, she officially began her career in the Western industry with the Pro Equine Group as Marketing Director for Cactus Ropes, Cactus Gear, and Cactus Saddlery. Between social media management, ad publications, endorsee relationships, event sponsorships, and many more responsibilities, Katie stays very busy but very dedicated because she is passionate about what she does and the industry that she is a part of!

Vision for the future of women in the Western industry: “My vision for the future of women in the Western industry is to continue to become a prominent force that helps tell the story of what our industry is and why it is so important. Watching the recent movement of the Breakaway Roping into the PRCA and high-dollar rodeos have been just the start of what women can do to help grow the industry. Growing up in the suburbs of Austin, TX, Emily Miller had no Western influence until she joined her high school’s FFA program. From that point on, she took any opportunity to be involved. From showing duroc gilts and participating in multiple Leadership and Career Development Events, to taking every agricultural class she could.

After high school, she knew she wanted to go to Tarleton State University to further her studies in Agriculture. During her college years, she had no clue what she wanted to do for a career but knew she wanted it to be in Agriculture. During her last semester at Tarleton, she interned at the Texas Department of Agriculture in the Marketing division and fell in love with marketing, specifically in the agricultural industry.

In 2019, she received her Bachelor’s of Science in Agricultural Services and Development and was offered a full-time position at TDA and continued working in marketing as a Social Media Manager. When she was approached to interview for the Social Media Manager position at Justin Brands, she knew it was an opportunity she couldn’t pass up. In the short time she has been at Justin, her passion for the Western industry has only grown stronger.

She gets to promote a wide variety of amazing people (such as their endorsees, the Justin Sportsmedicine Team, the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund, etc.) and products as well as the history of four amazing brands that embody the standards set by the cowboys and cowgirls that came before us.

Agriculture and the Western industry have been a part of Emily Bomgardner’s life for as long as she can remember. She grew up in Northern California on her parent’s hobby farm and grew up with all sorts of animals. Her parents instilled a love for all beings, an impeccable work ethic, and an understanding that sometimes life is hard, and that’s ok, we’re tougher.

Around the age of 11, she began showing an interest in horses, got her first horse, and never looked back. She rode anything with 4 legs and tried every discipline from rodeo to eventing to all-around events, reiners, and most recently has gotten into Ranch Horse Versatility and NRCHA events.

This passion for horses lead her to The University of Findlay where she double majored in Animal Science and Equine Business Management and minored in Equestrian Studies. Upon graduation from college, she continued her career in the veterinary industry and started writing blogs for Kimes Ranch Jeans, which was really her introduction into the Western industry on a more professional level.

Today, she is working full time with Kimes Ranch Jeans as their Marketing Coordinator and has continued riding horses for both passion and competition purposes. Her love and passion for the Western way of life has only grown through her time with Kimes Ranch, and she owes them a lot for all the opportunities that they have afforded her over the years.

Vision for the future of women in the Western industry: “My vision for the women of the future is to continue to grow and cultivate the Western industry in ways that are not always conventional. Women are gritty and passionate beings. Women impact the future every day, and I want us to continue building communities that inspire each other to create and grow in ways that we never dreamed of.

Dani’s passion for the Western industry and fashion began at a young age as she admired rodeo queens and fell in love with the amazing community rodeo had to offer. Her opportunities in the Western industry continued to grow since moving to Texas in 2016. Dani has had the opportunity to model and create Western fashion content for authentically Western brands like Wrangler, Stetson, Roper, Tin Haul, Dan Post Boot Company to mention a few. When Dani isn’t modeling or creating fashion content, you can find her working on her breakaway roping and helping her husband train horses.

Horses have been a part of Caroline Arendt’s story since she was a little girl. Thanks to said equines, she’s always been an advocate for the Western lifestyle and all its romance, but it wasn’t until she was obtaining her Agricultural Communications degree at Oklahoma State University that she truly fell in love with telling agriculture’s story.

Once insecure about not growing up traditionally rural, it eventually dawned on her that she could bring a unique perspective to the table and help bridge the divide from producer to consumer—and even have a little fun with emojis along the way.

After graduation, and with a few years of agency experience under her belt, she decided to jump and launch her own social media marketing business catering to agriculture-related clients. Two years later, she has a full client roster made up of everything from performance horse operations to rural water organizations.

Throughout her short career, she’s arguably had staggering opportunities to create good content to help tell even greater stories. From staying niche and working with brands like The Breeders’ Cup and PRCA, she’s gotten to meet, work alongside and collaborate with the best in the business.

Great experiences aside, it’s not lost on her that she has the opportunity and responsibility to continue sharing rural stories and share them well. Thanks to horses, she’s not only learned how to turn a passion into a career but have gotten to give back to the industry that’s given so much to her.

Vision for the future of women in the Western industry: “There is no future for women in the Western industry if there is no Western Industry. There will always be anti-Western movements. It’s our job as representatives and current voices to create seats at the table for every woman by continuing to constantly challenge the traditional Western stereotype.

“My vision for the future of women in the Western industry is to continue to pursue the promotion of an industry made up of traditional and non-traditional Western backgrounds alike, allowing for unique perspectives and ongoing conversations. Including everyone in these discussions, from first-generation ranchers to small business owners, from rodeo athletes to Western influencers and everyone in between gives the industry a unified voice full of representation, and makes it that much more approachable. The vision for the future of women in the Western industry appears different for everyone, but continuing to promote and share it should remain everyone’s goal.”

“A little bit y’all and a little bit Yankee.” Carley Montemuro is not the typical Long Islander. She fell in love with the equestrian and Western industries early on in her life when she met a sorrel Quarter Horse named Gunner. The fashion that came with showing him was also a huge bonus to her.

Over the course of her life, she went from competing in AQHA and NRHA shows to riding for the TCU Equestrian Reining Team. After college, she has remained a cowgirl at heart, always seeking new opportunities to support the Western industry.

She established the first spirit sponsorships with most major horse associations while she was at TX Whiskey. Now, through her position at NCHA, she has been given the opportunity to promote the amazing sport of cutting within the Western industry and beyond, exposing new people to the sport each and everyday.

Outside of work, she spends most of her time as a spectator at horse shows and rodeos. There is nothing she has a passion for more than introducing people to this incredible world and highlighting the cowgirl spirit.

Vision for the future of women in the Western industry: “While women have always been the backbone, and oftentimes the driving force of the Western industry, they haven’t truly been recognized for their contributions until recently. However, I truly see a future where the leadership and celebration of women in Western culture is the norm, not the anomaly. As a woman in this industry, I do see gaps in some sectors where women are not equally represented or valued, but also see progress being made due to the incredible cowgirl leaders we have. The acceptance and normalization of women in this industry can only happen by each woman working to pave a path, making it easier for women to be celebrated leaders in this culture. As more women rise into leadership roles, and into the spotlight, the future of women in the Western industry is brighter than all the sequins at the NFR.”
